I love making connections between the work at hand and people's interests. It's amazing how much can be unlocked when you can frame material in the form of Superheroes. Jake has a calm and friendly demeanor that my daughter really responds to. He focuses on what she needs help with based on her school work and always tries to connect it with her favorite movies and tv shows. She clearly has fun and is learning a lot about reading and writing at the same time.
