About

Hi there!

I studied Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Johns Hopkins University and have been tutoring high school math through lower level undergraduate math off and on for the past 8 years. I work as a statistician for a financial services firm but enjoy helping students of all math levels and abilities succeed. I'm located in Uptown Chicago but am able to travel within a 30 minute area. Do reach out if you would like to discuss further!

Best,

Daivik

Frequently asked questions

The typical process definitely depends on the student and why they are seeking tutoring. If a student is struggling, my experience has been that usually there is some underlying fundamental misunderstanding that is holding them back. For these cases, I tend to spend a quarter to half of the time working on these underlying misunderstandings and the rest of the time on the current material that they are learning in class. This way they are able to stay current with what they are learning but also begin to fix the structural issues that they may be facing in their learning and math education broadly.

I studied Applied Mathematics & Statistics at Johns Hopkins University and continue to use math everyday in my career as a data scientist. I have tutored many people over the years in calculus, statistics and physics. Nearly all of the past students I have tutored went on to receive As or at worst Bs in their classes. I strongly believe that math has nothing to do with being "smart" and everything to do with confidence and the right learning style.

Algebra 1 -> Algebra 2: $30/hour
Pre-Calculus, Calculus: $40/hour
AP Statistics: $50/hour
College level math (linear algebra, multivariable calculus): $70/hour

The pricing structure above is based on how much time it takes me to prepare to tutor for each subject.

I began tutoring in late high school and college. At first I just started out helping students out with their homework but eventually began formulating lesson plans that are supplemental to a student's coursework that is tailored to their needs.

Find a teacher who will give you individualized treatment! Especially for math, we all learn differently.
