About
I am a professional journalist covering national breaking news. I am extremely passionate about writing and have worked and tutored kids in various capacities for over 5 years. I work hand and hand with the student to achieve the goals they set and surpass the ones they didn't know they had.
I love teaching students and working with them to achieve their goals. I enjoy seeing improvement in those I tutor and helping them gain a better understanding of the material.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to connect with them beforehand to see if it is a good fit. I will discuss my experience and hear their goals for the tutoring, tailoring the experience to their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with and tutored kids and high schoolers for over 5 years in math, reading, writing and English. A professional journalist, I have a BA in journalism and international studies, which teaches me how to use the English language and adhere to the many grammar rules.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $80-$100 per hour per lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I was asked by a member of my community and referred by a tutor I had growing up, so I understand both sides of the process.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many types of students, including those with learning challenges and those achieving at levels well beyond their grade year. I have worked with language-challenged students and math-challenged students and helped them get past these challenges.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, as I was doing a joint lesson for a 5th grader, who is a high achiever, and a 1st grader who has learning disabilities, I had to figure out a way to appeal to both of them and their learning style. In doing so, I created a learning game wherein the more advanced 5th grader could go at her pace while the 1st grader felt engaged and interested. I am fond of this event because it required me to think on my feet and adjust my teaching style to the learners I was working with.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Talk to the person to make sure you can understand how they teach to see if their personality matches yours enough that you feel you can learn well from them.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want to achieve through tutoring? What parts can I do on my own, and what parts of a lesson or assignment do I specifically need help with? What types of teachers have inspired me or made class fun in the past? What is my favorite way to learn?
