Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically ask that the student provide a sample of their coursework with me to give me an idea of the content they are working on. This ensures I am adequately prepared with the materials to meet the student's individual needs. Then, during the first session, I speak with the student about their previous experiences in the subject, what they have been struggling with, and what they are looking for from tutoring moving forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a registered dietitian nutritionist with a Masters degree in nutrition and dietetics. I am licensed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a registered dietitian. In undergrad, I minored in chemistry and biology.
I have tutored science subjects for high school and college students since 2018. I also worked as a teaching/lab assistant for general chemistry in college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fee is $40 per hour with a minimum session length of 30 minutes. Additionally, I have a 12 hour cancellation/rescheduling time so if a student would like to change the time of a scheduled lesson or cancel it, they must notify me at least 12 hours in advance to the lesson to avoid being charged for the full lesson. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started tutoring by helping my peers in my college chemistry class. Then I became a teaching assistant in a lab setting in my general chemistry class.
From there, I worked with local high school students then began offering online tutoring services in 2019.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high school chemistry and honors chemistry students as well as college-level nutrition students.
