Everyone is different and learns differently. I believe in finding each client's most effective learning style. This makes the process of learning more enjoyable for the student which leads to a higher success rate.
I enjoy seeing the look on someone's face when the finally 'get it' and knowing that I helped to put it there.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by identifying what my students goals are and what their current level of English is. Once I know where they are and where they want to go I can better determine the best way for us to get there.
Everyone learns differently so there is no one particular teaching method that I use.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an English tutor for over 15 years, working with native English speakers as well as ESL students. I work with adults and children. I was a Writing Consultant at Moraine Valley Community College for several years. I have a bachelor's degree in social work and I currently work with clients that have varying degrees of mental disability.
