About
I have always had a passion for the sciences, since it shows an explanation of how the world around us works. Additionally, I am a firm believer that if one has an understanding of the world around us it gives one a better appeciation of it. I believe in not giving out answers, rather I believe in the student arriving at the answer on their own. I also believe that in order for students to be successful they need to struggle through. When it comes to science, I see it as a cyclical process, that a topic or idea will be constantly touched upton through out the course. Once a unit is over, it is never done since ideas from the unit will be reintroduced in subsequen units. I remind my students of how they learned an idea previously when covering a new unity, so that they can make/see those connections.
What brings me the most joy about teaching, is seeing the ah-ha moment in a student. After a student struggles through a topic, the moment of clarity arises and they have a better understanding of the topic at hand.
I have been a teacher since 2015, prior to that I have worked in an university undergraduate chemistry lab for over 10 years so, I saw what areas students struggled with coming into post-secondary education and I hope to tackle these problems earlier in my student's academic careers.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do want to see a copy of their syllabus and well as if necessary give them a quick, 5-10 minute oral assessment to gauge where they stand and to see where their strengths and weaknesses are at.
