About

My name is Jordan, and I have so much respect for education. I have earned my Masters Degree with honors in Applied Linguistics from the Institute of Education at UCL. Attending the #1 institution in the world for education and society has only fostered my passion for education. This passion began back with my undergrad degrees where I earned summa cum laude in both a BS in Psychology and BA in Spanish. I love to learn new things and consider new ideas. Being a student has allowed me to develop the necessary skills to succeed in an academic setting. Although there is great value in simply learning classroom material, I like to focus on transferable learning skills. My hope for my students is that they won't need me in the future, because they will have developed the skills and mentality needed to aid their own learning.

I greatly enjoy it when I am able to instill lasting skills and confidence in a learner. I want to be able to give them the right abilities to realize their own potential.

    Jordan was so thoughtful and patient during our tutoring session. She really made sure I understood my work before moving on. Jordan explains concepts in such an interesting and accessible way. I couldnt recommend a better tutor!

    My experience working with Jordan was more than I can ask for. He was patient, understanding, and knowledgeable when it came to helping me with the areas I struggled with most. Before I came across Jordans tutoring service I was doing poorly in my subject. But with encouragement and guidance, Jordan definitely helped improve my understanding and evidently, my grade improved. I don’t know what more I can say but thanks Jordan. If you’re doubting whether to go to Jordan for help, just do it. You won’t regret it.

    Ever since I was little I have watched my parents inspire students in their own classrooms. Their passion has led me to pursue educational roles;

    -Teaching Assistant:

    I aided with the planning and facilitation of the instruction done by the Spanish department of a bilingual grade school and high school and I developed classroom procedures and practices conducive to multilingual environments.

    -Spanish Tutor:

    I assisted second language acquisition through poignant instructive feedback for all levels of university Spanish language students.

    -Spanish Immersion Instructor:

    I implemented immersion instruction techniques for a mixed classroom of 25 young language learners.

    -ESL Instructor:

    I aided the community outreach program in providing free access to English language learning opportunities for individuals in need.

    I have been able to work with a variety of students. This includes teaching children to from the ages of 5-13 Spanish as a second language. I also have instructed High School aged students in Spanish to prepare them for AP testing. I also have experience teaching adult English second language learners. I do not have a preference for the age of my students but rather just that the individual has a willingness to learn.

    I recently did a language learning profile for a native Polish speaker who is an English second language learner. He was looking to apply to a job position that required high proficiency in English. I was overjoyed to help him identify areas of strength and weaknesses, and then use that information to direct him to steps to take in order to improve his English on his own. It was incredible to see how I was able to help him help himself. It was incredible to hear how my efforts helped him receive the position and the confidence he gained in his language skills.

    When hiring a teacher for a second language it is important that the instructor has received specific training in teaching languages. My studies have allowed me to understand how the brain processes language differently than other subject matters. Also, each person's brain is unique and may need a different manner of instruction. This is why it is vital to find someone who is able to identify how your brain best understands languages and then instruct you in that manner.

    A student should never be fearful to ask questions of their teachers. Building an environment of trust and open communication can foster greater learning. If a student is comfortable with their instructor, they are more likely to comprehend and later recall the instructed information.  A student should think through how the teacher has aided them in the past and know that going to the teacher will lead to efforts being made on their behalf.
