Physics And Math Tutoring
About
Hello! My name is Omar, and I am a tutor for physics and mathematics through the collegiate level. There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing the scientific beauty of the world around us, and the math that underlies it, with my students. I help students to grasp insightful and intuitive ways of understanding physical and mathematical concepts, helping them do better in school and become better scientists. For many students, STEM can seem daunting; I hope to show them that, with the right guidance, anyone can tackle and enjoy even the most complicated science and mathematics.
I teach the following subjects:
Math: Common Core math, SAT math, ACT math, Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III (AP Calculus AB and BC as well), Linear Algebra, Real Analysis
Physics: SAT Physics, AP Physics I-II, AP Physics C: Mechanics and E&M, Newtonian Mechanics, Lagrangian Mechanics, Hamiltonian Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Waves & Optics, Thermodynamics, Special Relativity and basic General Relativity.
There is no greater joy than helping a student reach their goals in STEM. I understand the feeling of being discouraged by difficult concepts, but I've discovered that under the right tutelage, nothing is impossible to understand. I loving providing students with that guidance and watching them grow to their full potential.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, when working with a new student I ask them before our first session what their goals are. This usually entails general information about what they're struggling with or what they're interested in, but they can also send specific problems or material they'd like to work through. I use their response to develop a rough curriculum and gather/write problems for them. During the sessions, I provide instruction and verify the student's understanding by asking them conceptual questions. If they haven't yet grasped the concept, I walk them through the thought process with guiding questions so that they can experience what it's like to think how a physicist or mathematician might think.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Here are my qualifications:
- Third-year majoring in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Chicago with >3.9 GPA.
- 1.5 years of experience with experimental work with the EGP project at Fermilab.
- Currently working on theoretical research in relativity under Professor David Reid.
- 2 years of experience tutoring with Onclass tutoring and teaching music with Notelove in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- 21 years with a passionate love for all things STEM!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, my standard pricing system is:
$15 for 30 minutes
$22.5 for 45 minutes
$30 for 60 minutes
