About
Hi! As a little background about me, I'm a Northwestern University graduate who majored in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Health and Disease. My primary passion is in the sciences and following graduation, worked as an IRTA fellow in NIAID/NIH for one year. I am returning to Chicago for another year to work in research.
Throughout college, I tutored to make a small income. I tutored both in the college setting - with fellow college students. I focused on tutoring organic and inorganic chemistry. Outside of university, I taught a wide variety of high school subjects. I can teach most math courses, all high school level chemistry, physics (not AP C), and chemistry. I continue to mentor high school students on their path to becoming great contributors to society in the future. Although I have a strong passion for science, I cannot give up teaching. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every high school is different in terms of what material the student has learned in the current year as well as in the past. I want to first get to know the student personally as well as where they stand academically. After I get a feel as to where they are at in their current understanding, I focus my efforts on getting their understanding to a level past the understanding in the classroom so that any problem that comes to them will be easily answered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Biological Sciences. I have been a teacher's assistant for biological laboratory for two years. I have tutored ACT, SAT, math, chemistry, biology, and physics for 5 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I will have it be a student-by-student basis. But, generally it should be between $50 and $80
How did you get started teaching?
I started in high school just tutoring fellow high school students. I continued that and developed a passion for it.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly high school students, but also have worked with a fair share of college students as well.
