I am a National Board Certified Teacher with over 20 years experience teaching history and language arts. I have coached middle school and high school cross country and lacrosse. I have a passion to help students see in themselves the ability to accomplish what they think is difficult or challenging. Anyone can advance with the right frame of mind and guidance. Depending on the area of attention, I would ask for a writing sample and a quick survey of learning strengths and preferences

How did you get started teaching?
Teaching was a life long pursuit but I did not get into until after 11 years working in the corporate world. I have always had a passion to teach and guide and did so in my corporate life and in community inolvement.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with the spectrum of age groups but the majority of my time was focused on gifted middle school and early high school students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you find a tutor that will work with your style of learning and are flexible in your abilities. At the same time, make sure that you have commitment to be a partner with the individual you choose.
