About
USC Graduates Offering SAT, ACT, College Application, and K-12 Tutoring
Hello! My name is Mihir Kumar, and I recently graduated from USC under the full-tuition Trustee Scholarship with dual degrees in Human Biology and Economics, and a minor in Mathematical Finance. I’ve been tutoring since 2016, recently hired a few tutors due to high tutoring demand, and am currently saving up for medical school, so my team and I are excited to work with new students!
Over the past few years, I have personally tutored over 75 K-12 students in standardized testing (primarily ACT/SAT/PSAT), math (from elementary operations through Calculus), the basic sciences, English, reading, writing, and more totaling over 2500 total hours (both online and in-person). Many of my students have improved their SAT and ACT scores by 250-350+ points and 5-8+ points, respectively, too. Each of my hired tutors also specializes in the subjects they teach and I have passed down what I have learned over the last several years to each of these hired tutors through tutoring trainings.
Having experience with the internal workings of the USC admissions process, my team and I also provide college admissions assistance and have assisted many students in earning admission to wonderful colleges such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, the University of Warwick, the London School of Economics, Boston University, USC, etc.
Beyond my qualifications, my team and I really pride ourselves in personalizing our tutoring. None of us will ever have more than 6-7 students at a time so that we can provide the best possible personalization of teaching to each student. Additionally, being at a similar age to many of our students helps us relate to them a lot better than some older tutors may be able to; we have more recent experience with taking the same courses/tests as them or applying to colleges like them, and this helps a lot in our tutoring personalization.
In terms of our team's teaching style, we love being able to connect with students beyond the structured environment of most classrooms and tutoring/prep academies. We try to provide our students with just enough structure so that they know how to study, how to test, etc., but enough autonomy so that they can learn how to succeed on their own.
Helping students navigate this fine line is really meaningful, as many of our students have reached out to me after starting college talking about how the study habits we built together were really helpful. This means a lot to me and to my team and we look forward to helping more students develop similarly powerful habits.
Finally, given the different levels of experience on our team, we do offer a variety of price ranges to provide you with the tutor that best fits your needs. We have a few tutors that have been tutoring for 7+ years, a few that have been tutoring for ~4 years, and a few that have been tutoring for 1-2 years. Although our more experienced tutors will generally charge more, all of our tutors are incredibly capable and have been trained to the same high standards.
With all of that being said, if you are interested, please let me know if you would like any additional information, references, or a resumé. You can also reach me by email or through phone/text — just ask! Thank you very much!
