Shana Abraham

I've been tutoring and TA'ing for English/Writing for about six years now, for middle school- college/graduate level. I've been mentoring the same levels of students for the last eight years, and have experience teaching English, Application Essay prep for college and graduate school, and helping with public speaking (I've spoken at universities and organizations all over the country, both virtually and in-person).

I always strive to meet you where you are, and then help you find a way to go further than you thought you could! I get to know each student individually, and personalize our lessons to best fit your goals and learning style, whether it be quick and concise feedback or slower, more in-depth explanations and walkthroughs.

Our lessons are always customized for your needs and desires, and will be a balance of guided learning and working to improve your own confidence in tackling your tasks. I always encourage my students to come with their best attempt at the task, and then work from there, offering strategies and guidance on how to improve their work so that the learning is long-lasting.

A little about me:

I published my first book in 2020, RISE: How Empowering Women Elevates Us All, and have spoken for over a dozen institutions all over the country, from Northwestern, University of Southern California, Girl Up DMV, and more.

I have a Bachelor's degree from Duke University, graduating with a self-created major that I designed called "Culturally-Specific Innovation to Reduce Health Disparities for Black and Brown Women." I am currently pursuing my Master's in Public Health at Emory University.

I have worked as a virtual TA for several years now, with all levels and for all types of work and test/college prep, so I am very comfortable working with you online! I encourage consistent communication, and will always make sure to respond in a timely fashion so you have prompt feedback and can count on your questions being answered.
