Lindsey Cerezo Tutoring
About
I recently graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in English with Secondary Education licensure and am currently completing my ESL endorsement.
During my student teaching experience at St. Charles East High School, I worked with English 9 multilingual learner classes, a general education English 9 course, and a Senior Creative Writing class. I supported students with essay writing, literary analysis, reading comprehension, grammar, organization, class discussions, and individualized feedback. Working with students at different skill and confidence levels strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and adjust support based on individual student needs.
My tutoring approach is structured, supportive, and focused on helping students build confidence over time. I work with students step-by-step through assignments and tailor support to their needs. Sessions may include brainstorming essay ideas, organizing writing, improving grammar and sentence structure, practicing reading comprehension strategies, strengthening literary analysis skills, or building overall academic confidence.
I understand that many students feel overwhelmed or discouraged in English classes, especially when it comes to writing. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions while still being challenged to grow and become more independent learners.
