I have recently graduated from college cum laude with a degree in Biology and a concentration in Cell Physiology.
-I have taken math courses up until Calculus 3 in high school.
-I was an adjunct professor at Saint Louis University for a semester after my graduation in which I tought 3 upper level college biology courses.
-I have tutored high school students ACT material for 3 years while in college
I have been tutoring or in some sort of teaching environment since i was a Junior in high school (7+ years experience)

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before begining I would want to make sure I am properly suited to help the student. I will not take on a student if I feel I am not proficient in helping them in the subject matter they are struggling with. Next I would give the student some freedom in explaining to me certain things that he is struggling with and go through his thought process on how he tackles a concept or problem. I would give him tips and practice materials while trying to enforce the concept until he has shown to have mastered the process and understanding. In addition, I would ask for a brief idea of what the student would want to go over in a session before hand so that I can prepare some goals and material ahead of time so that the time we are together is used efficiently.

How did you get started teaching?
In high school, I was asked to help explain some concepts to my friends and realized I had a talent for it and enjoyed it. Progressed from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
From elementary students in religious education, high school students studying for the ACT, and college peers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Teaching college students this past semester was an invigorating and challenging task. It was difficult because I was so close in age with them but satifying when I was able to help them learn.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure I am what you are looking for in a tutor. There are a variety of different types of tutors and I think the key is to find a tutor who is invested in yours or your childs well being and betterment.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-Where did I lose understanding of this concept?
-Could I have gotten this right if I slowed down?
