Emma's Science Center
About
Hi! My name is Emma and I graduated from Mascoutah High School with my Associate's of Science degree in May 2022. I graduated Summa Cum Laude (3.9+ GPA) and love all things science.
I always loved helping people in my science courses and creating study groups. Collaboration and explaining ideas is the foundation of learning, so I want to make sure all students feel comfortable and ask any questions without ridicule.
I am a pre-med student and am attending Saint Louis University in Fall 2022 studying Biology & Bioethics and Health Studies.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to evaluate what topics a student understands go from there. Typically, I like to build up a student's confidence and review the material the student understands and then see what questions they have.
After we review, we take the remaining questions and find the material that relates and elavuate using flashcards, practice questions, and determining clear definitions so the student has a firm understanding of the topic.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Associate of Science degree simultaneously with my high school diploma, achieving a 3.9+ GPA. I previously tutored algebra weekly at my high school and lead study groups throughout college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates start at $18/hour, but if you would like to create a study plan and schedule, I can alter my prices accordingly.
How did you get started teaching?
I have not taught professionally, but from a young age, I have always loved explaining topics to my peers. I find this process is mutually beneficial and allows both parties to learn and thrive.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from all walks of life and different goals. Some students I have worked with are taking a class because it is required, while others have a true passion for the subject.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have a clear goal in mind when looking for tutors. Do you want someone to help you study before a big exam? Do you want weekly tutoring? Need help completing homework assignments? Make sure you have a clear idea of what you expect when you are reaching out to tutors.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Definitely sift through your material before going to a teacher or tutor. After you determine what topics you need more instruction on, make a list of questions so you are not overwhelmed.
