About

Thank you for reading my profile!

I have over 20 years of experience working with families in both public and private college preparatory high schools. In addition, I have served as an adjunct faculty member at a university in the Midwest. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History Education coupled with a Master of Arts in School Counseling, while also a current Illinois State Board of Education Certified Teacher and School Counselor.

As an expert in the college admissions field, I have personally met hundreds of college admissions counselors while touring 150+ campuses of leading universities. I have been quoted in national publications such as Wall Street Journal, Forbes, U.S News & World Report, Yahoo! Finance, Sun Sentinel, Good Call and SchooLinks. I have presented at high schools, libraries and community organizations on topics regarding academic, social and financial concerns for college, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Money Smart Week campaign.

I enjoy matching students to the universities that best meet their academic and financial profiles. As a veteran educator and counselor, I understand what it takes to work with highly motivated college-bound families.

As an Independent Educational Counselor (IEC), I especially enjoy the personal interaction that guides families in the college admission process. My professional experience has allowed numerous students to fulfill their dreams and assisted families in obtaining goals they never thought possible.

I am a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Organization (IECA), which means I follow all ethical standards of the organization and college admission best practices.

    • I offer a free 30 minute, virtual or in person, consultation to meet with the family. Here I learn about the wants/needs of the family and where they are along the college process. I can then explain my services and how I can help them get from that point to admitted into the college of their choice.

I have different packages to meet the needs of all families. These packages differ in services I can offer depending upon where the family is in the college process.

Please contact me, let me know where you are at, then I could provide an accurate quote.

I was always passionate about History Class ever since elementary school. I pursued this passion in college and wanted to pass my love for the subject to others.

After a three years of teaching, I decided to go back at night (while still teaching full time) to obtain a Master's Degree in School Counseling. This 48 hour program (a MA is typically 36 hours) would allow me to better connect with students, being able to help them in and out of the classroom.

I have worked with all type of students, from traditional high school students who want to pursue their Bachelors (from highly selective colleges, to local/community colleges), as well as returning adult learns, MA/Law School/Med School students, I am able to assist.

The last client file I work with! I enjoy having my own business and doing what I love, helping students with the college procell. After nearly 20 years of working with students, I enjoy teaching them new things, enlightening them to things they did not realize and helping guide them along the college process.

Cast a wide net in terms of colleges. Do not be focused soley on one type of school (such as highly selective), because this will provide you with options (in terms of admissions and/or scholarships). Most families do not realize that 85-90% of all college scholarships will come from the colleges themselves, along with the most highly selective college not offering merit based aid, only financial need, until it is too late.

What is best for you and your family? Do your best to block out all the 'white background noise' and do what is best for YOU. The college process is difficult, especially when you start applying and getting accepted/denied. Create your strategy, stay on your path (but be flexible) and do not let others persuade you because of a 'name' or lack their of in the college(s) that best fit you (academically, socially or financially).
