Full Moon tutoring strives for each client glow with growth. Through warm, encouraging academic support custom fit to each individual learner, I humbly aspire to help each student brim with capability and confidence. I promise to create a personalized program to help you sharpen your writing, English, or study strategy skills.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude (3.99 GPA) from American University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Sociology. Throughout my higher education journey, I conducted graduate-level research as a sophomore in the Olson Scholars program, and helped my professor write a book. Additionally, I volunteered as a conversational English tutor on a month-long student trip to India. But my passion for learning extends farther than my own education. Working as a preschool teacher after graduation has allowed me to cultivate boundless patience and positive energy. And as an early childhood educator, I also completed two more courses covering child development and early special education. My vast, varied experience gives me a unique skillset I can use to help you continue to shine!
Nothing brings me more satisfaction than sharing the joy of learning. Whether it be by helping a young child memorize letter sounds or supporting a college student in feeling confident about their own unique artistry in their course papers, I love helping others grow. I am determined to foster intellectual curiosity, positivity, and the hunger to learn within myself and in others. As a student, I had many people deeply believe in me, cultivate my confidence, and push me to think in new, creative ways. I want to give other people that same holistic assistance I had the privilege of receiving.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet at a library or coffee shop and have a free introductory session. During this initial meeting, we go over my welcome packet, which contains my policies. We discuss your learning goals, dreams, and the specific ways that you would like me to help you. Then, we can work on a skill of your choice until our time is finished. If you wish to continue my services, we can then set up recurring lessons :)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in International Studies from American University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I also have 6 early childhood credits from my training as a preschool teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30.00/hour. This covers my transportation costs, as well as my time answering any questions you may have outside of lessons via text or email :)
How did you get started teaching?
I've always wanted to teach. The past few years, I've worked in Montessori classrooms and in other early childhood education programs. Additionally, volunteering as an English tutor on a university trip abroad made me even more passionate about sharing knowledge.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with adults and teenagers as a language tutor abroad -- for one month. As a teacher, I have mainly worked with children ages 1-6. I also have experience with and coursework covering early special needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my most fond recent memories is when a child in my two year-old class began to nearly double her word usage. We were so humbled that our story-telling, language games, and learning conversations were beginning to make a difference!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who truly cares about you as a whole person -- someone who is passionate about learning in a way that extends beyond their wallet! A good teacher wants to help build your confidence in yourself and grow in ways beyond just grades.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Make sure you're completely honest about what you want to work on, as well as how you like to learn. A good teacher will genuinely listen and custom-fit their program to your unique needs. If anything is unsatisfactory to you, don't be afraid to speak up! This is all about what you need, what you want, and how you can feel the best about learning.
