Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I tailor each lesson to each individual student's needs. I also take a very holistic approach based on several different factors.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed a double major at U.C. Santa Barbara in both Environmental Science and Global Studies (emphasis in economics and political science in Europe) and have a minor in German. I also speak German and some Czech (I worked and taught in Europe for 12 years).
After UCSB, I then went to law school and completed a Jurist Doctorate with two focuses - one in in Tax Law and the other is in Environmental, Real Estate and Land Use Law. I also excelled in Constitutional Law and Contract Law so I really enjoy teaching these invaluable topics which everyone would benefit and enrich their knowledge and skills.
Additionally I have a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with focuses in Marketing and Organizational Behavior (psychology in the workplace).
Finally, I completed an advanced Master in Business Law Degree in Energy Law at the Technical University of Berlin in Germany.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Everything will be custom tailored to each individual need including pricing.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been teaching at university since 2008 - courses include Economics, business Law, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, environmental science, biology, philosophy, political science, world history, community partnerships, and finance and marketing
I've also taught and tutored k-12 at various times throughout my career
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds from 4/5 years old all the way up to 80.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Not necessarily an event I am "fond" of but rather one I am grateful for is that the past several months I've been taking care of my elderly father who just passed away on Christmas. After being away for so many years pursuing my career and traveling I'm so grateful I got to share my love, experience and life stories with my father before he passed away 🙏
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I've been in your shoes and worked not only in the "real world" but have been either in school myself or taught in school all my life. If you have a question, whatever it may be, I'm pretty confident I'll not only know the answer but I would have the experience to back it up (not just the book knowledge).
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Look for not only a teacher/tutor but a life mentor.
