Child-Centered Tutoring
About
Hello!
I am an educator with over ten years of classroom teaching experience. I have also worked one-on-one with students on a variety of skills, including writing, reaching comprehension, grammar and spelling, math, ESL, and executive functioning and time management. As an educator, I have completed professional development courses on learning differences and students with special needs. I have helped students with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, discalculia, and executive functioning challenges. My goal as a tutor is to provide my students with tools and strategies to increase their independence, confidence, and self-advocacy.
I look forward to hearing from you!
I love getting to know my students, hearing their stories, and supporting their growth. It is immensely rewarding to see a student develop confidence and independence. While I offer tutring in a variety of subjects, English and ESL tutoring are my areas of specialty. I love helping students develop their literacy skills, and supporting my students' personal empowerment through skill development.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first sessions, I will spend time getting to know a new student as a learner and a person. Through interviews, assessments, games, activities, and conversation, I will work to build trust and rapport so that sessions are both productive and fun. In the beginning, I will want to figure out a few things: How do you like to learn best? What helps you do your best learning? What are your passions, interests, hobbies, and goals?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over ten years of classroom teaching experience. I have been a lead teacher in first, second, and third grade classrooms. In addition, I also have extensive experience as a tutor, and I have worked one-on-one with students ranging from first grade through high school. My professional development training includes conferences on learning differences and executive functioning challenges, as well as on reading, writing, and math instruction. I have attended the Reading and Writing Workshop summer conferences at Columbia Teachers College, as well as NCAIS workshops on math instruction.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
