My tutoring style is simple and effective. In short, I listen to you. Then, I'll teach you what you need to know in a way which fits your learning style.
I enjoy teaching people English because I love the English language. Additionally, I love to teach people English and other language Arts subjects because I wish to help people achieve their intellectual and professional goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them how they need assistance in the subjects of reading and writing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Grand View University in 2016 with a B.A. in English. I also earned an A.A. degree from DMACC (Des Moines Area Community College) in 2012. Additionally, I am a published poet. I published my first collection of poems; titled, "She Never Said Thanks" in 2008. And, I tied for first place in Bifrost, an undergraduate creative writing journal, in the category of poetry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25.00 per hour. But, both reading and writing tutoring is included in that fee.
How did you get started teaching?
I tutored my peers in college.
What types of students have you worked with?
ESL and Special Needs. I worked with a student from South Sudan. I also worked with a student who has ADD and Dyslexia.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I don't keep up with pop culture. I read and write poetry a lot.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure your tutor understands your educational needs. In other words, make sure the tutoring sessions are about your educational needs, and not the tutor's need to prove that they are smart.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What aspects of reading or writing do you need help understanding? For example, do you need help remembering what you read? Or, do you need help with grammar? Also, do you need help organizing your thoughts when writing? These are just a few examples. I would ask questions about anything relating to reading or writing.
