Master Educator That Loves To Help Students Succeed
I am currently a special education teacher with a Masters in teaching. I have taught remedial reading, writing, and math skills to students with varying abilities. I have taught students working on high-level reading comprehension skills, students working on the letter sounds, and everything in between. I became a teacher, so I could help all children reach their potential. I live to see them make progress. I have also worked for 2 years at Huntington (a tutoring company). As I continued to see students struggling with reading I decided to learn more about Orton-Gillingham. Currently, I am finishing up training through Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialists in Minnesota (training under Karen Sonday). This is why my rates are lower than other OG tutors. I currently have many other students I am tutoring and love it! Orton-Gillingham focuses on multi-sensory techniques and spelling to support reading. Since my prices are quite lower, it's a great way to give it a try without paying the full price of other tutors. I would love to tutor your child!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would do an assessment with the student to see their current level. This assessment would include reading words, spelling words, and assessing phonological processing. I will take this information and will create a customized lesson to target where the student is currently. I will then scaffold lessons to help build their confidence and skills.
