Elite Academic Tutoring
About
I've been providing academic tutoring services in English for students across the world for the past seven years. After graduating from the University of Toronto, I moved to South Korea where I have been teaching international school students from the elementary to high school levels, including AP, SAT, and college preparation. I'm passionate about teaching and place heavy emphasis on the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary of content areas to ensure my students have not only a strong academic background but also the confidence to succeed and adapt in a rapidly changing 21st century environment.
I've always been an intuitively curious person and I love learning about anything and everything! Most of my free time outside of teaching is spent reading or writing. The subjects I'm the most interested in are history, anthropology, political science and economics, biology, and literature, which also correspond with the subject areas I teach. I love that I can bring in practical experience from my other work (such as work with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs or some universities that do projects in international development) or my academic work or reading to introduce to my students and help them go "beyond the textbook" in their learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first do a consultation (usually 15-20 minutes) to assess the student's current situation and discuss the goals for the class with the student and/or parents in order to develop an appropriate study plan and timeline for the student to achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been teaching international school students, as well as students from around the world, online for the past 8 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge USD$25-30 per hour for elementary students, $40 for middle and high school students and $50 per hour for advanced subjects such as SAT or AP coursework.
How did you get started teaching?
I have never wanted to do anything else except teaching, and it's the best field for me to share my knowledge and experiences with others. I have also always been strongly interested in teaching methods and curriculum development, so teaching was a good fit for me. 1:1 teaching also helps me develop a closer relationship with students, so I can ensure greater achievement for a few students rather than having less time to focus on a class of students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with elementary-high school students with a variety of learning levels and from several countries, including South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, France, Sweden, Iran, Brazil, the UK, the US, and Canada.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students or parents should have a clear idea of their strengths and weaknesses in the subject area and have some idea of their goals for the class so we can discuss it during the consultation.
