About
Aloha and Salutations to any and all potential students:
My private tutoring and ESL professional background go back into my school days and to my obtaining an MA- TESOL from UCF on December 15th, 2001 . It was in Orlando, Florida. In 1994 my fondness for travel and culture somehow propelled me into and to the completion of a BA- anthropology simply because at that time I'd planned to do a PhD in both underwater archaeology and living ethnology amid Shompen and Sentinelese Islanders. Unpleasant political realities made that impossible for me.
After 1996 I moved to California again as I'd done in 1990-1991 living in an old friend's spare room and after having made contacts and friends from places I wanted to start a small, modest gastro-pub-French style café in a place called Jeffrey's Bay. My friend Dr. Alby Liu and his lovely wife let me live there free in order to be better able to save money for my own place. I got 3 part time jobs and tried as best I could to save money .
After a few months I was not able to save more than $100.00 with 3 jobs and no rent! It was a really unpleasant experience .
My mother called me a little while afterwards and asked if I were able to complete my plan of saving the $10,000.00 I needed to buy and set up my mix of new and old equipment.
I had to tell her that I had failed again and she asked if I wanted to return to graduate and/or law school. She asked me to give it some consideration and then call her when I had decided.
I took about a week to surf, think and chat with my friends and reflect before deciding to return to my parent's house and begin graduate school the next semester.
Honestly, I wish that I had been able to get to J-Bay and have my place.
Still, honestly could not have tried harder.
