Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two BS degrees in mathematics. In addition to experience as a full-time high school math teacher, I have also worked one on one as a paraprofessional.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $40/hr and $100 for three-hour prepaid blocks of service ($33/hr). I am not a college student or a high school math teacher who doesn't have an ACTUAL math degree (I have two). I do this full-time as my profession. Satisfaction guaranteed.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching (tutoring) while I was in the Navy. I used to help my fellow sailor learn math in preparation for the GED. It is then that I realized that I have a talent and passion for helping people overcome math deficiencies so that they could achieve their dreams. Their success is my success. I am honored to be chosen to participate in that process.
What types of students have you worked with?
I generally worked with middle school-aged students up to adults (primarily test prep for math teacher certification tests). I also have much tutoring experience serving those on the autism spectrum.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the math teacher has an ACTUAL math degree and does this FULLTIME...and is not just doing it for extra money. Choose those who are experts and do that is as their profession and not just a "side hustle".
