About
Writing is not very difficult. Writing WELL, however, can be challenging. But it's certainly not impossible. The biggest problem that students face today is that they're all taught to write the same way, when each person writes very different from one another. Students are essentially told to remove their personality from their essays or term papers; I vehemently disagree with that choice.
My approach to teaching how to write well is centered around getting to know your student and their personality. Some things click easier than others. While some find writing expository essays more interesting, others can't stand them and instead prefer to be more extemporaneous with their writing.
I minored in English at Baylor University and was the first (and as of this writing, only) Freshman to have been selected as part of the Carrol Science Student Achievement Display which occurs each Fall.

No two voices are exactly the same. Helping students find their own style and, consequently, their own voice is a point of pride for us both.
