My name is Gage Hawkins. I'm a 25 year old recent law school graduate and currently waiting on my bar results. I have an immense amount of knowledge and a burning passion for teaching others.
I pride myself on my ability to explain ANY topic to ANY student. From the time I started school, I remember wondering why teachers had issues with certain students. I would always take the time to explain things to students, in a way other than what the teacher attempted. I found out early on that students rarely (if ever) don't grasp something because of the perceived subject's difficulty, but instead because of the way the subject was explained to them. I truly believe that we are all capable of limitless knowledge, it just depends on how we receive it!
I will take the time to teach your child, and I will not rest until they are TAUGHT, how they should be. I've been tutoring calculus for 4 years, along with all lesser math subjects and areas of focus. I can tutor any class I've ever taken, and I'm always willing to take on a challenge.
But rest assured - I've never found a challenging subject. Even without prior knowledge of a subject, I can easily gain the requisite knowledge to give your child a thorough understanding in no time at all.
I'm currently an attorney awaiting bar results. I graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in May of 2020. While in law school, I taught upper level college math subjects (Analytical Reasoning, Algebra 1&2, Statistics, Calculus, and Business Calculus) for all 3 years.
Prior to law school, I graduated from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.
I'm looking to tutor for 2 primary reasons. First, I've always wondered what I was going to be when I grew up. While I'm still figuring this out, one thing is clear: I have an undying passion for teaching others. I believe knowledge is power, and there's absolutely no reason why we all can't acheive this power. I will not rest until your child is equipped with the requisite knowledge to succeed in class. Second, I believe a student's grasp (or lack there of) is contingent on one sole variable: teaching. I will provide your child with personal, understanding instruction, geared to provide your child with the deepest understanding possible.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Meet with the student and have a brief introduction, asking questions and chatting in order to develop a solid idea of how your child thinks and learns.
If necessary, I'll give a diagnostic test to determine which topics your child is having difficulty with.
After identifying the gaps in the child's knowledge, I'll begin walking through each topic. I will not make the mistake of explaining info to your child right away. Instead, I'll dive into each part of the process, ensuring your child has both a solid base of knowledge as well as a solid grasp on the more nuanced topics.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have completed 20 years of schooling straight, without a single break or sabbatical. Most recently, I graduated lawschool from the University of Mississippi School of Law. While in school there, I worked for the Department of Mathematics as a tutor. I taught a wide variety of subjects to students, and virtually every student that came my way enjoyed a boost in test scores. This was after a single visit! Imagine what results multiple sessions would produce!
