Sun King Tutoring
About
Hello!
I have taught for more than 20 years, and I love working with teenagers. I have a Ph.D. in English and plenty of experience in many aspects of the subject area. I have taught Freshman English, Sophomore English, College Prep Senior English, Science Fiction, Creative Writing, Persuasive Argument, and Personal and Exploratory Writing. I also tutor for the ACT and SAT.
I love my students. Teenagers are a lot of fun. It's thrilling when I see a student grasp a new or difficult idea. It's wonderful to watch their writing skills evolve. It's always happy news when a student's ACT or SAT scores rise.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always need to evaluate the new student's skills first so that I know how best to work with him or her. If I haven't read a book that the student is studying, I'll read it along with him or her. Writing is a process that may take some time, but I will help the student to create the best possible version of whatever he or she is writing. When I tutor for the SAT and ACT, I teach the student tips and tricks for attaining a higher score and then have the students practice sample problems until they have a good grasp of what they need to know.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught for 25 years. I taught for five years at Arizona State University and am in my 20th year of teaching at Stratford Academy, a private school in Macon, Georgia. I have a Ph.D. in English.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I fell into it. I didn't know that I would be a good teacher until I was put in front of a classroom, but everything about it was thrilling to me. I never want to retire.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high school students for 20 years and worked with college students for five.
