About
I love helping students improve their writing skills, or seeing a student's face light up when they understand a new concept. I firmly believe that any student can learn how to read, write, and understand grammar. The trick is to find the right approach for the student. I try to include the student's interests in lessons as much as possible. This has been a key both in my classroom teaching and online teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My usual process in working with a new student is to first have an assessment lesson. This gives me an opportunity to get to know the student and parent, and also to listen to parent/student/school concerns. I may give the student a short assessment test to evaluate problem areas, but during this lesson, I want to hear from the student and parent. (This lesson is discounted 50%)
After the first lesson, I will evaluate all the feedback and plan a course of study. I typically try to include student interests in the study plan. This increases student involvement. I do assign homework, usually online. I take my curriculum from several sources, again, depending on the students' interests.
Please keep in mind that I am a strictly online tutor. Also, I do not tutor students under 6.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. from Georgia State University with a Secondary Education specialization, my TEFL certification, training in online education methods, and thirty years of teaching experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
This depends on what kind of tutoring the student needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I'm a third generation teacher. I was grading multiple choice tests for my mother when I was ten.
What types of students have you worked with?
All cultures, ages, levels, and nationalities. I have a special sympathy for ADHD students,
