About

Hi, my name is Amy Vaughn, and my company Better College Prep is a remote business that focuses on a holistic approach to the college preparatory process. I offer ACT and SAT Private Tutoring, College Prep Mentoring, and Subject Tutoring for specific middle school, high school, and college courses.

In-person services are available to the Mobile, AL area and online services are available to students throughout the US. Students have raised their ACT scores by 5 points on average working with me for 15 hours; SAT scores have increased by an average of 250 points. I specialize in courses such as AP Statistics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, and Geometry.

    My son has been working with Amy this year for AP Statistics. He struggled a lot for the first month of school with the material on his own and failed a couple of tests, but once Amy started helping him, he was able to bring his grade back up to an A and maintain that throughout the rest of the year. She is now helping him to prepare for the AP test coming up, and he feels very confident about it. We will be hiring Amy again next year to help our other son with the same course.

    I begin my test prep process with evaluation. I ask students to provide scores from any ACT/SAT they have taken in the past, which I analyze and discuss with them to determine their strengths and weaknesses. After the evaluation period, I formulate a plan for the student’s success, discussing everything with parents, and then I dive into prepping for the test through practice. All students receive a free ACT or SAT prep workbook as well.

    I have a Master’s Degree in mental health, but education has proved to be my passion over the past 5 years. I currently serve as The Director of Standardized Test Prep at an Atlanta tutoring company, and now I have ventured to start my own business doing what I love. I have seen tremendous success in my students, and truly feel that I have found my calling.

    For subject tutoring, I charge $40/hr.

    For all test prep private sessions, I charge $50/hr.

    However, you can purchase pre-paid packages for multiple hours at a discounted rate:

    15 hours - $600

    20 hours - $800

    25 hours - $1,000
