About
Hello!
My name is Kayla and I enjoy math and helping people, which is why tutoring is my favorite! I believe math is a language, and like many langugages, there are multiple ways to get to the same answer! I am here to understand how you see numbers and give you the confidence to solve whatever math issues you may have!
I have tutored individuals of all ages in Algebra, Statistics, and Probability. I have taught college level statistics and continue to tutor students in college level courses. I have also tutored students in elementary to middle school math.
The best part of tutoring is to see the excitement in students when they gradually learn that they can master a subject that they fear or have feared for a long time. There have been special moments in my career when students come up to me and tell me that because of me, they are no longer scared of math and believe in themselves!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is to first take the time to understand how they are currently processing math. In my experience, students are taught only one way to solve a math problem and get frustrated when their brains do not work in that manner. I have learned that after I can connect with them in the way their brains works, they are surprised to learn that they know more than they believe!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Science degree from Univeristy of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University. I also completed one year of a doctoral program at Georgia State University, where I taught and tutored numerous students.
My love for education and tutoring started when several family members would ask me to tutor them starting from elementary math to college level courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing system for lessons are $25/hr for online sessions or students coming to me or $30/hr if I travel to your home and tutor! I also give discounted rates for two-person sessions, but do not go beyond two-person sessions as I do not want to take away from individual learning.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching through my doctoral program at Georgia State University, located in Atlanta, GA.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students aging from 7-60 with varying levels of understanding!
