My service stands out by the energy and excitement I bring to the table. I thoroughly enjoy discussing history and it is reflected in my approach to delivering the subject matter. I use a variety of resources such as videos, PowerPoints and graphic organizers to enhance student understanding. I also have student driven service where students perform a bulk of the work with me being a guide to ensure they are on the right path. I allow students to respond in a language and method that is comfortable to them but also allows one to show mastery. I also use online resources such as USATestPrep, Digital History and The Smithsonian Institute to provide deliverables and exemplars to the students in a variety of avenues.
I have over ten years of education experience as a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional for special education and a general education teacher. With those experiences I have developed a great understanding of the needs of individual students and there is not a "one size fits all" formula in education. I have obtained my Bachelors Degree in Economics and I have a Masters degree in Secondary Education. Because of these accomplishments I feel that I provide a picture of success that young students can attain to have.
Another way my service stands out is with relevant information. I provide students with information that is not normally disclosed in textbooks or in the classroom. Historical events and individuals are explained in manner that does not paint history as a perfect tapestry of events and individuals but it is instead is filled with complex incidences that often cause questions of morality and integrity. The information that I convey to students often allow them to develop conclusions on their own about specific dilemma in the past
I enjoy enlightening students and the aspect of passing knowledge on to students in an entertaining yet academic manner. I love when students say "oh" or "ahhhh" when they finally understand a concept, idea, or subject. I also like the fact of learning different student personalities and when I form a rapport with students I am better able to develop lesson plans and assignments that not only meet the students needs but also enage the student.

When beginning to work with new students I first attempt to gauge their preferred method of delivery for information. I ask students do they learn infortmation visually: by videos, auditory: by hearing, or kinesthetic:: by doing. Once I have determined a preferred method of delivery to the students I then begin working on developing lessons and activities that will engage the students. When working with students I also collect information on what topic or theme the student are currently showing a weakness in. When I get that information I develop a method of delivery that is relateable and tailored for the student in need. I like to paint a picture as a story which hopefully allows for easier comprehension.
