One Mans Thoughts
About
I have over 20 years of experience in education as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional and classroom educator. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelors in Science for Economics and I possess a Masters Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. Currently I am an educator in Fulton County Schools where I have taught US History, American Government, and Civics respectively. Prior to that I worked in the corporate work environment where I developed key communication, sales and customer service skills. I have taken those skills and transferred them to the classroom where my passion is on full display. I believe that every student has the ability to master US History and it is about making connections to students. I use real world examples to help students comprehend historical facts in a language that is familirar to them. I challenge students to be able to perform critical thinking tasks that yields positive results on major and minor assessments. History is a story that needs to be told in an exciting, engaging manner for todays student to connect and I bring that to every session with enthusiasm
What I enjoy most about what I do is the Ah Ha moment that students have when they learn something throught their effort. When the lightbulb comes on and students say "Oh, I now I get it" it gives me a sense of accomplishmnet that I have peformed my duty for the student, parents and education environment. I love discussing history with my students, especially when curiosity gets the best of them and that ask questions to satisfy that hunger for more. Most of all however, I enjoy the student interactions where I form relationships that can be nurtured for years.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When beginning to work with new students I first attempt to gauge their preferred method of delivery for information. I ask students do they learn infortmation visually: by videos, auditory: by hearing, or kinesthetic:: by doing. Once I have determined a preferred method of delivery to the students I then begin working on developing lessons and activities that will engage the students. When working with students I also collect information on what topic or theme the student are currently showing a weakness in. When I get that information I develop a method of delivery that is relateable and tailored for the student in need. I like to paint a picture as a story which hopefully allows for easier comprehension.
