I am a current third year doctoral student at the University of Georgia studying Nutritional Sciences. I tutored during high school and undergrad for students ranging from elementary school through college level. I have experience tutoring English, Spanish, Science (Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, etc.) as well as SAT/ACT/AP English test prep. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initial meetings with students will include a brief conversation about history with the material and any questions or concerns students may have. I am generally open to working around different learning styles, whether that be visual, auditory, or more hands-on. During the first meeting, we will work together to create a plan for how meetings will go in the future, and what goals and timelines you have with the subject matter.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science and am a current graduate student in the Nutritional Sciences department at the University of Georgia. My partner has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and is able to support students in advanced chemistry, math, physics, and related field. I have taken a wide array of college and graduate-level coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, English, and Spanish.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am flexible on pricing- this will typically depend on the level of the material, travel distance, etc. We typically range from 40-60/ hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I helped tutor at my high school as my first experience with tutoring and really grew to enjoy helping my peers. During my undergrad, I tutored high school seniors on writing college application essays. Now, as a graduate student, I am co-teaching an introductory nutrition course.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently enjoyed a hike near a lake in Athens, Ga that I was very fond of. I enjoy spending time outside and being active!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think that everyone has a different learning style, so try and find a tutor that can really enhance how you enjoy learning.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should consider if they have put in the time and energy required to make sure their work is complete before talking to a teacher. This will ensure that the student is thinking through all of their resources and is prepared before seeking help. Once a student has put forth everything they know, a teacher can step in to take their knowledge to the next step.
