About

My name is Abie and I am a senior at the University of Georgia, majoring in social work and child welfare!

In high school, I took AP Language and had little to no knowledge about writing. However, when the course was over, I learned many useful techniques and resources that I still use within my writing even as a senior at UGA. Although I am not qualified through certification, I am able to help students proof their papers and enhance the overall essence of their essays.

I have helped multiple students at UGA improve their writing skills by showing them various forums and teaching them how these sites can make their writing more efficient.

I also have made a personal packet that lists all of the information I have shared with them and am always willing to make it personalized to their own needs.

Considering I am a social work major, I am constantly passionate about helping people achieve their goals. Although I am not professionally trained in writing, I feel as if I am skilled enough to help students improve and further reach their goals.

Frequently asked questions

We would first go over what the student is struggling with and what they would like to know more about in order to help them succeed with their writing. Next, we would go over what they needed extra help on (this normally involves me making a packet for the student full of information/charts/examples that adhere to their needs). After that, we typically would work together through GoogleDocs so I can make personal notes on certain parts of the paper. By messaging one another back through the paper, we are able to communicate what the student is struggling with, while I also make note of what they may want to fix or look at again. After this, I proof read their essay and do the process of making notes until the paper is ready to be turned in for grading/submission.

I took AP Language in high school and have had to write for almost every single class I have taken in college, which has given me plenty of practice and motivation to do well with writing. I proofread most thing's at my place of work such as articles, monthly reports, and documents. Along with this, I have tutored many students in the Athens area and almost always help my friends and roommates with their papers as well.

Depending on the length of the paper and the extra time I take outside of the sessions to proofread and alter the paper, along with making them a personal packet, it can range from $50-$75 a session. Most students only need one session to feel confident enough to write on their own!

I just naturally started helping people during my freshman year of college and it has escalated ever since!

Students who are great at writing and just want someone to glance over their paper and students who feel lost in their writing entirely!

A recent event I am fond of was spending time with family at home and celebrating the fall season with one another!

Look for someone who makes you feel comfortable. Sometimes students fear asking questions, even simple ones because they feel intimidated. This is something I feel like I am good at!

- What area of the subject do I feel confused about?

- What could I use more practice on?

(Make a list of questions, even the small ones, to ask beforehand and it will make it easier for both the student and the tutor!)
