About
I have over 15 years experience teaching chemistry honors. I know the areas students typically have misunderstandings about and the common mistakes they make in chemistry from my years of teaching experience. I know the language to use to help students understand the concepts.
I enjoy helping students build confidence in their ability to do chemistry. My goal is to have students love chemistry.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out what a student knows about the topic they are learning by asking them questions to determine their background knowledge. Once I know their background knowledge I like to see what misconceptions they have for that topic and then work from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in biochemistry. I have over 13 years of teaching experience in a high school classroom.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$32/hr for regular and honors classes
$40/hr for college level chemistry
How did you get started teaching?
I tutored students in science when I was in high school and college and decided to try teaching after graduating from high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students below grade level for reading and math, honors students, and advanced placement students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The last student I tutored in chemistry said he hated chemistry and had no idea how to do any Gas Law problems. After tutoring him his mom told me he said he loved chemistry because he finally understood it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should hire a teacher who knows how to simplify the language and steps for chemistry.
