What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess the student's proficiency and try to understand what the student's goals are for the subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a MS in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. I am pursuing my PhD in Applied Mathematics and Engineering. I am mentoring students as well as I am a Teaching Assistant for Differential Equations.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be able to communicate without any hesitation to the teacher. It is the teacher's job to make sure the student feels comfortatble/confident to ask any questions he/she has. Encouraging students to express themselves is highly important.
