Jennifer's Math And Science Tutoring
About
I have a PhD in Physics and I love teaching others. I worked in the solar industry doing research for more than 20 years and now enjoy passing on my knowledge. As a tutor, I'm patient and I don't talk down to my students. I like to get to know them, and that lets me use analogies from their lives to help them understand topics as well as practicing problems. I'm experienced with online tutoring as well as in person. I want to help all my students succeed.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know a new student, know what you like to do as well as what your goals are for tutoring. As I get to know you, I can tailor my style to match your needs. I suggest we meet for a session, and if it works for you, then we continue. My time is flexible. I've had sessions as short as 15 minutes for a last-minute problem and as long as 3 hours for a pre-test intensive.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Physics. I've taught college level for two years and I have mentored and tutored throughout my career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $50/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always helped other people learn, even when I was a student. Most recently, as I have finished a career in the solar industry, I wanted to do something fun that helps others as uses my skills. Tutoring is a great way to do that.
What types of students have you worked with?
High school, college, and adults going back to school. All types of math, inorganic chemistry and physics are my main topics. I have worked with students who have difficulty with math and science as well as those looking for that extra edge.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a new student call on a Monday afternoon and request a session that evening for a Chemistry test the next day. We worked for about two hours, and her test score jumped by 30 points from her previous exam. She was really happy. I helped her with the rest of her course and we brought her from a D to a B.
