About
I have been a certified elementary teacher in Florida since 2003. I have been teaching 3rd grade for 15 years in Martin County. I have worked as a tutor for K-6 grade students since 2006. I am passionate about helping my elementary students reach their academic goals in reading and math. I work for a reputable tutoring company in Martin County as an independent tutor as well. I've worked with individual students and small groups of students outside of my regular classroom full of students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I meet with the student and parents to go over the needs of the student. I try to obtain reports or work from the student's classroom teacher in which to see which areas need the most attention. Together with the parents, we decide when and where I will meet to work with the student for tutoring.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I am a certified teacher in the state of Florida for K-6, and have my ESOL endorsement. I am also a certified clinical eduactor, and am able to have student teachers work and learn alongside me in my classroom.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally tutor for one hour per session, and I charge $40.00 per hour. I tutor most of my students 2 times per week, but it is up to the parent as to how many sessions they feel their child needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I worked for several years as a preschool teacher, then decided I'd like to work with older children. I grew up with neices and nephews most of my life, and loved to be around children. I went to college to become a teacher, and the rest is history.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many types of students. I've worked with mainstream students, students with learning and physical disabilities, and students of many different backgrounds. I have also worked with many English language learners.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come prepared to tell the teacher about your needs, and be honest about where you need the most help. Be willing to work hard, and you will experience great success.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
