About
Helping students reach their full potential is ver rewarding. I will do my best to find the right learning style to make the most progress. I believe that success in learning helps to facilitate a love of life long learning. My own children struggled to keep the pace in school and it has made me passionate about helping others and made me want to share what I have learned throughout the years.
It really excites me and moves me when I see someone progressing and becoming more proficient and confident in their abilities and also beginning to enjoy reading and learning. It's all about helping people be the best they can be and developing a good consistent attitude toward learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After we meet I like to listen and hear a clients main concerns and where they believe they need the most help. Then we can start the tutoring process and evaluate for strengths and weaknesses as we go. It is important to build confidence by pointing out strengths and areas of proficiency. As I go along I will explain to the student why what we are doing is important and how it will help them to improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My main training comes from helping my own children. My older son has ADHD along with reading and comprehension issues. My younger son is on the Autism Spectrum and has had a variety of issues regarding reading and language. Both are grown. They are both grown now with rewarding careers. I also have tutored my grandson who is now 8. He also has reading and comprehension issues due to adhd and processing issues. What I have learned over time is that we can leave no gaps.
We work on every aspect of reading and use many strategies to remediate and grow using phonics, expressive reading, sight words, vocabulary, context and more.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by hour.
How did you get started teaching?
When my children were little I realized they needed extra help. So I started researching what was needed for them to become successful readers.
What types of students have you worked with?
At this time I am new to tutoring for anyone outside the family. I love to help others so this feels like a natural progression for me.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every day after school when my grandson comes home we look over graded papers that have been sent home. More so every day my grandson comes home with papers that are excellent in every way. I love seeing how excited he is because he knows he is doing so well in school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that will listen to your concerns and will be able to tell you what they can do to help you. A teacher should take the time to find out what is going on with you specifically. Each and every individual is so different. So the lessons must be tailored around the client and their needs. Find a tutor who can communicate with you and really take an interest in what your specific needs are.
