Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, understanding what the student needs. Then, understanding the students learning style. Finally, developing an approach with the student that incorporates both.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Associate of Arts in History and a Certificate in Eastern Christian Traditions. Currently working on a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Judaic Studies and a Certificate in Sacred Scripture. I am also taking courses in Biblical Hebrew through the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I am a certified instructor for ASHI and FEMA.
How did you get started teaching?
Through work teaching CPR.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. As young as 7 years old for some classes, professional and those who only needed the class for work.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My daughter recently was certified as a Firefighter. I am very proud of her.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Seek out an instructor who wants to understand your needs. If someone only teaches one way, and you must struggle to understand his or her way, they are likely not a very good instructor. Good teachers look for ways to help their students understand. Good teachers want their students to succeed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you want this training?
How important is it to you?
How much time and effort are you willing to invest in this training?
