Thank you for your interest in hiring me as a tutor! I have a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in English Education from the University of Florida and am a certified English 6-12 teacher in the State of Florida. I have been teaching in the Central Florida schools for the past 25 years. In addition, I possess a Reading Endorsement and ESOL Endorsement from the State of Florida. I have taught language arts (reading/writing) at the middle, high school and junior college level; I also have solid experience with SAT/ACT preparation -- both Verbal and Math.
In addition to my expertise in reading and writing skills, I have a strong background in test-taking strategies, time management skills, and organizational methods. My husband is also a teacher, and we live in Longwood, FL with our three teenage boys.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first couple of sessions, it's important to assess the needs of each student in terms of strengths and weaknesses for the SAT and ACT.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified teacher with nearly 30 years of experience teaching various subjects and age levels. I have three boys of my own and three stepchildren and have successfully guided them through their education -- 5/6 are in college or have graduated college and the "baby" is going into 11th grade!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1:1 tutoring is $50/hour and can be completed virtually or in my home (in the Orlando area).
I also offer small group test prep classes; these are in-person in my home.
