About

I will always love to learn and share what I learn with others. It brings me great joy to educate people. I am on the path to becoming a physician one day. One of the things I love about medicine is patient education... whether it occurs in primary care or during surgical consultation or pre/post op.

Dear to my heart are the subjects of biology and chemistry and general biochemistry. I also have a solid understanding of genetics, molecular biology, college physics, organic chemistry, and neuroscience as they pertain to the MCAT, especially. I recently scored a 504 on the MCAT which is not amazing, but it's a solid score which demonstrates a firm understanding of the concepts involved in problem solving related to the subjects of chemistry and physics, critical analysis and reasoning, biology and biochemistry, and psychology and sociology. I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Science from Florida State University in 2017. I also have a good deal of experience working in wet labs for microbiology and biochemistry as I assisted in the research of the EHD family of proteins at FSU under Dr. Scott Stagg.

I will always enjoy working with people to meet their needs. I have a ton of experience working in hospitality, so I enjoy making people feel valued and comfortable, that way, we can get straight to work on the subjects that are temporary nuisances on your academic journey.

I have to say, there are some courses that are just down-right hard and require a LOT of commitment. I am no replacement for commitment, but I certainly can help you in your quest to conquer the material in your courses. I am a married man, so that will alleviate any tensions or reservations about any kind of nonsense distractions as well. I also enjoy teaching basic chemistry/biology/math subjects that could be applied by middle and high school students to great success.

My style of teaching is a combination of detailed explanation, examples to work through together from the text, checking work, and socratic methods to help stimulate memory formation. I thoroughly enjoy mnemonic devices for memorization as well.

I look forward to your future achievements in the hard sciences. You are not alone in the struggle to balance school and life! I'm here to help.

Have a blessed day!

I love helping people achieve their goals. I especially enjoy cultivating newfound academic passion in students that would have otherwise hated certain subjects or subtopics of a subject. There is nothing quite like the feeling of ascending a mountain in life, and I want to help others conquer the mountains that they may not see a path to the top of when they're down on the academic battlefield working and struggling with content. I also like to help bear burdens of others and encouraging people to be the best they can be. My wife and I worked for a college ministry for a little while, and that was a key component of our responsibilties... building up others!

Frequently asked questions

First, I'll have the student describe to me the issues they are having with the course generally and specifically to help identify key areas to address together so our time together is efficient. Then, if required, I will further inspect the student's understanding with more detailed questions that will test their ability to relate specific concepts to larger themes of the troubling course or courses.

Once the problem areas are thoroughly explored, then we will work through the lectures and textbooks that the course usually provides. There, we will find lots and lots of practice, which is where the student will begin to see results rather quickly. Practice will come in the form of problems from the book or lectures or created on my own if need be.

Once some practice has been done, I will prescribe more practice on their own for me to check during the next session or by phone. Then we will get to reviewing the mistakes made on exams and so on and so forth.

All the while, I will do my absolute best to make sure the student has a great understanding of the concepts being studied. I will also do my best to support and encourage the student all along the way no matter what score they may be starting with in the beginning. Given enough time and available points in the course, even an F can be turned into an A.

I have a B.S. in Biology from Florida State University, and I completed all the prerequisites for medical school.

I have wet lab experience working at a tier 1 research university essentially running my own experiments on the protocols for EHD 3 protein isolation which is a protein that is essential for endosomal recycling in cells.

I was hired as a learning assistant by Florida State University to help teach Biochemistry 1 to students (which is a capstone course for many science majors related to the health fields).

I will do one facebook video lesson online for one hour for $15 to see if the student enjoys my teaching style. After the trial hour, if the student feels comfortable moving forward with me as their tutor, my rate is $40/hour. If I must drive more than 25 miles to meet the student, I will charge $50/hour. I live in the MetroWest area of Orlando. I'm also willing to do online sessions at the same $40/hour rate. Sessions online will take place on whatever social media platform the student wishes to use with me.

If the student requires multiple hours of assistance per day, I will encourage the student to incorporate 5 minute breaks to help the student maintain steady focus.

I encourage the student and or parent to seek help as early in the struggle as possible. There have been many times that a person seeks help too late in the game to make a difference in their grade.

I began teaching my fellow classmates in college when they would struggle with the details of the more challenging courses I completed on my academic journey. I loved talking about the subjects with my classmates so much that I often found myself reminding my classmates and friends of key points and satisfying bits from the lectures we attended. Then, my professor for Biochemistry suggested that I become a learning assistant for his course.
