Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Student must email what topics they are having issue with. Homework examples are fine. I can then assess the best way to help you understand the content online. No home visits needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters in Science Education, a Masters in Biology, and a Bachelors in Human Development. I have taught the biological sciences and critical thinking for over 12 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard rate is $25 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I first developed a passion for teaching while in the military. I enjoyed teaching fellow soldiers how to operate and maintain various equipment. After the military, I discovered that I had a passion for equipping society with knowledge to become more knowledgeable and better enlightened and conscientious citizens. I facilliated this through my own businesses and civil service related industries.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students in public and private schools. I have instructed students that have been diagnosed as having learning disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, ESL students, et. al.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking for someone patient and who understands the challenges of learning new and complex material. I can help. I also make the lessons personal and fun!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have they posted resources that already address this question? :-)
