Hello, my name is Jakob, and I bring eight years of professional tutoring and childcare experience, supporting students from preschool through college. My experience also includes working in licensed daycare centers and early childhood education settings, where I led educational games, literacy activities, and age-appropriate lessons for younger children. These experiences strengthened my ability to remain flexible, engaging, and nurturing—qualities essential for connecting with developing learners.

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I’ve worked in after-school programs and learning centers, helping students complete assignments, develop strong study habits, and reinforce classroom material. I’ve supported learners through key academic transitions, such as starting middle or high school, ensuring they feel confident and prepared for new challenges.

I am currently pursuing a dual major in Hospitality and Education at Florida International University, combining the structure, attentiveness, and care of hospitality with the instructional skills of education. I believe students thrive when they feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely supported—and I strive to create that environment in every session.

Over the past eight years, I’ve built lasting relationships with families who value consistency, reliability, and real results. Many of my students work with me long-term, often across siblings, allowing me to deeply understand each learner’s strengths, challenges, and growth over time.

I take time to learn what motivates each student and adapt instruction accordingly—using visual tools, guided practice, repeated review, and real-world examples. During this conversation, I gather important details such as the student’s current academic standing, specific areas of struggle, strengths, learning preferences, and goals—whether that’s catching up, staying ahead, or building confidence. In our first session, I like to conduct informal assessments through discussion, sample work, or short review exercises. This helps me gauge where the student is academically and how they process information. From there, I create a personalized learning plan that outlines the skills we’ll target and the teaching approach I’ll use (visual, hands-on, repetition, etc.). Each session is structured, yet flexible. I break down content into small, manageable parts, ensuring that the student understands each step before moving on. I regularly check for understanding, celebrate small wins, and adjust strategies based on what’s working. I also maintain open communication with families to share progress and feedback, and to encourage a team-based approach to student success.

Yes. I charge a flat rate of $45 per hour for online one-on-one tutoring sessions. This rate includes: Lesson preparation In-session instruction Any supplemental materials I provide Progress updates or feedback if requested I also offer recurring packages at discounted rates for families booking multiple sessions per week or looking for long-term academic support. I conduct all sessions via Zoom or Google Meet, with flexible scheduling to meet the student’s availability and time zone.
