Austin English Tutoring
About
I have over 10 years of experience educating children and adults and would like to continue to do so as a tutor. Being from one of the most diverse cities in the world, I have been exposed to people of different ethnicity, skills, abilities, and livelihood. One lasting impact of that exposure is the ability to be open-minded, receptive, and respectful to others.

I enjoy everything about the work I do. Going places, meeting people, fostering relationships, and augmenting knowledge are the primary reasons I enjoy being an educator. I value passion, loyalty, group efficacy and lifelong learning.
I live by the saying of the late but great Nelson Mandela, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Education is the key to eliminating gender inequality, to reducing poverty, to creating a sustainable planet, to preventing needless deaths and illness, and to fostering peace.
Be assured that I have the resilience and perseverance to want to help every person, even the ones that need a little more help. I understand the profound role that educators play in this world.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The initial process of working with a student entails building rapport and a foundation for a trustworthy, transparent, and effective tutor-student relationship. While the goal is to enhance student achievement and learning, I thoroughly believe that we must build relationships and address social and emotional needs simultaneously with academics. As Dr. Rita Pierson says ... “You know, kids don't learn from people they don't like.”.
A diagnostic assessment will be administered to access the student's current level, identify strengths, and areas of improvement. This diagnostic will also guide instruction and teaching practices.
