About
One of the things that I love doing is sharing what I know and helping others understand difficult concepts. I love to see the twinkle in my student's eyes when they have their, "o.m.g. I GET IT!!" moments.
I am a professional tutor who have been tutoring since 2012. I've tutored in subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, Math, French, Music, Social Studies and History. I've also taught in the classroom on and off for the past 5 years.
I've received my bachelors degree in bio/chem at the University of the Bahamas and I also was a registered Pharmacy technician.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before the first lesson, I would send out a subject assessment test to find out strengths and weaknesses. After the completion of the test and I would have analyzed the results, we can set up our first meeting/lesson in which I would discuss the results of the assessment test and build the lesson from there.
Each lesson is tailored to the exact needs of the student as well as the pace of the lessons (we can go as fast or as slow as the student needs). If the student has difficulty grasping a topic, I will refuse to move on to another topic until the student understands fully. I have a tendency to try multiple approaches to the same problem set.
I also try to make each of my lessons relaxed and fun (because who hates a boring teacher with a subject that a particular student may consider boring?!) so you will see that I use a lot of games to try to cement concepts in your head.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've done alot of things since I've graduated Highschool in 2009. Firstly, I have a Bachelor's degree in bio/chem. Secondly, I've taught in the classroom in the Bahamas and also in France. Thirdly, i was a teacher's assistant in several institutions in the Bahamas which catered to students with learning disabilities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $44 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching was one of those careers that I never saw myself in (or even liking), especially when others would say they see me as a teacher. It wasn't until my French lecturer at university made known to me an opportunity to teach English as a second language to French students that I actually began to, not only see myself in that career but to also loving it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with very high functioning students as well as students with learning disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've recently held chemistry classes and I've had students message me stating that not only did they enjoy the classes but they actually learned things that they never learned before. That was heartwarming to me.
I would get the same responses with biology.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for the tutor that piques your interest and is interested in, not only your academic success but also your emotional wellbeing. A student that is stressed because of family issues is just as ineffective as an academically struggling student.
In essence, your tutor should be able to look at you as a whole person and not just focus on academics. This will allow them to present more difficult concepts in a relatable way as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How open are you to discuss personal issues?
Are you trustworthy?
Have you encountered students that have similar issues like me? If so, how did you deal with them?
