My name is Ryan W. McClellan and I am a Certified Student Success Coach at Florida International University. With the job comes an interesting fact: you must know how to coach and teach.

So I became a natural at tutoring, and have been doing so since 2016. Aside from tutoring, I am a Marketing Consultant, a Public Speaker, and an Author.

QUALIFICATIONS

I am certified through the ICF and the IAC, and I have been at this for 7 years now. I am an award-winning and six-time published author, so when it comes to reading and writing, you are in luck - I quite literally do it for a living. I am also a Study Skills Coach at Florida International University and a Public Speaking Coach since 2012.

RESULTS

I have seen, within as little as one month of tutoring twice a week, students' scores in reading and writing skyrocket; I have seen through my study and test prep sessions that 9 out of 10 times, the test is passed on the first try; and I have seen nervous speakers stand in front of hundreds with poise and effortless dignity.

PRICING

I try to be fair. I typically perform majority of my services for $35 per hour, or I can do a monthly package of $399 for 10 total sessions a month on any day, at your convenience. I try to maintain affordable rates while also accounting for my time.

MY MOTIVATION

The above pricing indicates something strange: I am not looking for a paycheck here, am I? The truth is, I actually love doing this. I love helping people, and am a natural at teaching. I want my students to succeed!

When I started, I had no idea how to write. 3 months with this guy and I’ve finished a 20,000 word manuscript that I plan on publishing. I’m sure he does great work in any area he performs tutoring in, but if you want to learn to write a freaking BOOK, let alone something simpler, I recommend him.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I can either charge by the hour, or as a monthly package. I typically charge between $35-$45 per hour, or I can do a package that serves as an "unlimited pass" to my services whenever you require them. This costs between $399-$699 respectively, allowing up to 10-20 hours a month with me.

How did you get started teaching?

I began as a Life Coach & Student Success Coach while in college. I helped students learn to study, which led to a long-standing career with FIU and UM - two prominent schools in Florida. I have always loved writing, teaching, and learning. Thus, I decided to turn it into a career!

What types of students have you worked with?

I work with all ages on: Public speaking, writing, reading, grammar, punctuation, and study skills. They are typically in middle or high school, though for many of my services, I have found college students require the most help in study skills and speaking skills, while middle and high school students require reading/writing.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I found out a former client of mine landed a job at a Fortune 500 company! Not only that, but she went ahead and wrote an article on the website thanking me for guiding her to success.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for the person who is 50 steps ahead of everyone else, and who is not trying to be the smartest person in the room. In other words, look for someone who can provide you with quality work, respect, and cordiality. That is half the battle.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

1) What is your 3-month objective? 2) Why do you need this service? 3) Can you learn it on your own?
