About
Hi my name is Alex and I am beginning to tutor in the Scottsbluff area. I lived in Guatemala for 2 years where I became fluent in Spanish. When I returned I decided I wanted a deeper understanding of the language and the grammar so I got a BA in Spanish From Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. I am now almost done with my Master's in Business Administration at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
What I enjoy most is being able to show new learners the pitfalls to avoid when learning Spanish. I really understand the learning process from a native English speaker's perspective. I try to focus on the aspects of the language English speakers will find undoubtedly find challenging.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I wish my teacher had done with me is just drill vocabulary. The main goal I have with a new student is to get them to a 1000 word vocabulary as quickly as possible. We can figure out how to put those words together in time but memorizing lots of words right off the bat is more important. This means we will be doing lots of flashcards and other vocabulary drills
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As I mentioned in the about section I have a BA in Modern Languages with an emphasis in Spanish. I also lived in Guatemala for 2 years and have visited every country in Central America other than El Salvador. Working on an MBA now.
