Student Tutoring
About
I am originally from Brazil, and having come to the United States when I was twelve years old gave me some clarity on the struggles students may be facing, whether they are immigrants or not. I had to learn the systems behind schooling mechanically, it was not something installed in me as I did not grow up around it. In high school, I tutored many kids from my neighborhood, their grade levels varying from sixth to tenth. As a college student now, I yearn to help students achieve their potential, as I know it can get difficult to keep trying when one sees themselves constantly failing. I'm here to ensure that no one gives up, I hope to reinstall a sense of confience in everyone's ability to succeed.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to learn about my students' hobbies. I find that if a teacher can make learning more entertaining and fun, the student is more likely to work and retain information. I also like to understand exactly what the student's goals are, whether they are learning English from stratch or if they are struggling in a classroom. I then plan tutoring sessions to match both the student's needs and interests, as I believe the combination of both maximizes efficacy in any learning environment.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think they should consider why they are struggling in the first place. Learning to learn is a process, but being self-aware is crucial.
