What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually ask the students to share with me some work they have done so that I can do a quick assessment of what are their challenges. If it's test prep, then I request any previous test results.
Especially in the case of academic subjects, I assign work for student to do in 15 minute segments, then correct with student while noting where there are gaps, and identifying challenges and strengths. Based on those findings I then set up a tutoring plan.
