About
I've taught English as a Foreign or Second Language for many years on three continents. I love working with people from other cultures, and will give you all the help you need and the respect you deserve. I tailor my sessions to you, and go as slowly as you want. I speak French, some Spanish, as well as basic Arabic, so understand your difficulties if you're from any of these linguistic or related backgrounds. I also work on improving your American accent so that you speak with more confidence as well as understand us Americans better in movies and when we're in conversation.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first session is always for evaluation purposes. I have a conversation with the student to assess his/her weaknesses and strengths as well as what they expect from their tutor. I give them an overview of how I teach and how I will tweek my approach to suit their needs. The second session is where we dive into the learning process head first.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold an MA in French, but have taught ESL for over 30 years in Europe, the Middle East and the US, both in language schools and on a one-on-one basis. My students have come from many language backgrounds. I'm culturally sensitive and fit my lessons to your learning style in your comfort zone. I also have TESOL certification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm flexible in my pricing, depending on the distance I need to travel and/or the amount of preparation I need to do. Exam prep--TOEFL, ILETS, SAT, GRE, etc.-- costs a bit more, but if you're already my student, I don't raise the original rate.
How did you get started teaching?
I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Modern Foreign Languages with a minor in Education in the US, then studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. After I received my Masters Degree, I decided to stay in Paris and teach English for a year.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have come from many language backgrounds. I've taught international military personnel with the US Dept. of Defense as well as civilians from around the world, from school-aged children to older adults of all educational backgrounds.
